Information has appeared about the release date of the second season of Ahsoka on Disney+.
Ahsoka had been absent from screens for three years, and many fans were eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the former Jedi's story. Given the extremely mixed reviews of other recent Lucasfilm projects, anticipation is high.
According to a post on Reddit, Star Wars Insider has confirmed that the second season will be released "later this year." Since this is an official publication of the franchise, the information can be considered reliable.
At the time of writing, there are no Star Wars series announced for 2027 or later. Apparently, the future of the Disney+ franchise depends on Ahsoka.
New promotional material may have inadvertently revealed two characters appearing in The Mandalorian & Grogu. However, the actors playing their roles have not yet been confirmed for the project.
The new Star Wars will feature characters who have already crossed paths with Din Djarin and Grogu. Zeb Orrelios from Rebels will apparently play a significant role. Also confirmed to appear is Trapper Wolf, voiced by Dave Filoni.
The mobile game Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes will host an official crossover event with the upcoming film. To promote it, Lucasfilm and EA unveiled new art featuring the main characters, Rotta the Hutt and others.
Interestingly, in the lower left corner of the image, two familiar characters are fighting a giant creature. These are Carson Teva and Cobb Vance, who are familiar to fans of the MandoVerse show.
Animated series “Star Wars. Mol: Lord of Shadows" was so successful that on May 2, Disney+ uploaded the first of ten episodes to its YouTube channel.
Animated series “Star Wars. Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord is currently the highest-rated Star Wars TV series. It even surpassed Andor. The series currently has 98% positive reviews from critics and 90% positive reviews from viewers. By comparison, Andor has 96% and 89%, respectively, according to Rotten Tomatoes. Perhaps because of such high ratings, Disney decided to make the first episode of the series completely free to watch.
On May 2, the Disney+ streaming service uploaded the first episode of the series to its YouTube channel. The episode entitled “The Dark Revenge” is an introduction to the plot, introducing new characters.
Ordinary viewers and critics note the outstanding artistic style and beautifully rendered frames (especially the backgrounds). Unfortunately, the episode was released only in English, without Russian subtitles.
It is noteworthy that the company only uploaded one episode. The fact is that Disney streams two episodes of “Lord of Shadows” every week. Each of them lasts about 25 minutes, so viewers get something like a full episode of a drama series.
Each episode is an independent story. At the same time, viewers note that there is no sense of transience, often inherent in short animated series. "Lord of Shadows" will consist of only 10 episodes. The final two episodes will premiere on streaming on May 4.

StarWars.com's Kristin Baver talks with director Jon Favreau about the upcoming Star Wars film, The Mandalorian and Grogu.
After discovering Star Wars at the age of ten in the summer of 1977, Favreau was working as a cinema usher by the time of the release of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. "The Mandalorian and Grogu" is an opportunity for Favreau to open up that metaphorical toy chest, exploring his love of monster movies with a Dejarik chess set that comes to life and bringing Amanin into the spotlight from the shadows of Jabba the Hutt's palace.
The Acolyte was met with controversy even before it premiered on Disney+ in 2024. The series was subject to review bombing, and the actors faced online bullying and trolling.
The project experimented with Star Wars lore, which is always a risk for a beloved franchise. The idea was to show how the Force can lead to a virgin birth - something that echoes the emergence of Anakin Skywalker. The story also tried to fill in some important gaps in the universe. The last point included the debut of Darth Plagueis in a live-action film.
Against the backdrop of such a stormy reaction, the news of the cancellation of Acolyte did not come as a big surprise. Unfortunately, there are several unfinished storylines left.
