Darth Plagueis was the main villain of the canceled Star Wars series.

Feb 09, 2026

New information has confirmed that Darth Plagueis was set to be a villain in the canceledStar Wars seriesduring the Rise of the Republic.

In July 2024, shortly after the end of the first season ofAcolyte(Acolyte), Lucasfilm officially announced the cancellation of the series. The creators were counting on at least one more season, as was hinted at by the ending of the first. This left fans with many questions, including: Who was the Stranger? Why did Yoda appear in the finale? And was it really Darth Plagueis in the cave?

As part of the new art book Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte, series creator Leslye Headland has lifted the veil of secrecy on some key details of the canceled show. According to TheDirect, she confirmed plans for Darth Plagueis:

I always wanted Plagueis to show up at the end of the season. His appearance in the middle would seem too difficult. So we decided to introduce the era, the main characters, and the storyline first, and then introduce Plagueis as a bigger threat.

Although many have speculated that the mystery character is Plagueis, this has never been directly confirmed over the eight episodes ofThe Acolyte.

The Secrets of Gorman, Mina-Rau and More: Creating the Worlds of Andor, Season 2 (Part 2)

Feb 08, 2026

Yavin is all grown up.

Throughout the second season of Andora we watched as Yavin 4 transformed from a deserted jungle into a refuge, and then into the central headquarters of the nascent Alliance rebels. “Essentially, by the end of Andora, Yavin should feel the same way it did in the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” notes Mohen Leo, ILM's visual effects supervisor. The finale of season two—all directed by Alonso Ruizpalacios and written by Tom Bissell—takes us days away from the events of the 2016 anthology film.

Secrets of Gorman, Mina-Rau and More: Creating the Worlds of Andor, Season 2 (Part 1)

Feb 07, 2026

Creator and executive producer Tony Gilroy, Emmy Award-winning production designer and executive producer Luke Hull, and Emmy Award-winning visual effects supervisor Mohen Leo at Industrial Light & Magic take us behind the scenes of the construction of Yavin 4, Gorman's massive set, the new farming planet Mina-Rau, the first appearance of Mon Mothma's homeworld, Chandrila, in a live-action movie, and more friend.

When the first season of Andora was released on Disney+ in the fall of 2022, the crew was already hard at work on the second. Production designer Luke Hull knew from the outset that season two would be another project requiring large sets, and his team allocated even more pre-production time than before. “It comes from the story, the characters, and what’s on the page,” he explains of his approach to the realistic design and construction of Andor, which earned Hull and team the award for Outstanding Set Design for a Historical or Fantasy Series (one hour or more) at the awards "Emmy"2025. “It's about finding a tone that suits the story we want to tell. [Creator and executive producer Tony Gilroy's] approach has always been that every three episodes is a movie. You're trying to achieve that cinematic look that 'Star Wars' has.”

Villain Confirmed to Return for 'Ahsoka 2'

Feb 07, 2026

In the second season of Ahsoka(Ahsoka), one of the main villains of the first season of the series Star Wars will return.

The show, starring Rosario Dawson, introduced several antagonists, chief among them Grand Admiral Thrawn. Other enemies also appeared, such as Morgan Elsbeth, the Great Mothers of Dathomir, Marrok, Baylan Skoll, and Shin Hachi. While Marrok and Morgan are not expected to return for season two, one more character has been confirmed to appear.

According to actress Jane Edwina Seymour's website, Lakesis will appear in the second season of Ahsoka in several episodes. This is indicated by the fact that she worked with several directors.

In early 2025, I was asked to reprise the role of Great Mother Lakesis in the second season of Star Wars: Ahsoka, which was filmed at Pinewood and Longcross Studios in England. It was a great joy and honor for me to have the opportunity to develop the character of Lakesis more fully and deeply. Having created this character in the first season, I knew there was so much more potential in this character.

Seymour noted that she had the opportunity to “more fully explore Lakesis' modus operandi and true aspirations.” This directly points to the expansion of the character's role in the second season.
