Who is the most powerful Jedi in Star Wars: Canon vs Legends

Feb 13, 2026

Star Warsfans have been arguing for years about who is the strongest Jedi. But in reality there is no competition.

After the release of Return of the Jedi in 1983, it became abundantly clear to fans that Luke Skywalker was the strongest Jedi of all time. He defeated the Sith and accomplished what no other Jedi could do. However, the prequel trilogy showed how powerful his father, Anakin, was.

If we consider only canon and all references, then Anakin Skywalker is by far the most powerful Jedi. However, if we consider the expanded universe, then, undoubtedly, it is Luke.

Both characters have demonstrated their immense power throughout canon, and it's no secret that they are extremely gifted. However, Anakin should be favored in canon for several reasons.
