Dark Forces was not just an exciting shooter, it opened a new page in the development of video games. This game pioneered the idea of a story and a coherent narrative connecting levels, as well as innovative gameplay mechanics such as the ability to look up and down.
When creating this magnificent product, the developers closely connected it with the Star Wars universe. In 1995, when the brand was in a difficult situation, games were the only way to maintain its popularity.
According to data Media, current head of Lucasfilm studio Caitlin Kennedy will leave her post at the end 2025, but who will replace it is unknown.
Kennedy herself took over the studio after it was purchased by Disney when company founder George Lucas retired. Since then, under Kennedy's leadership, the Star Wars trilogy has seen the light of day, The Mandalorian and other TV shows have appeared, and new animated works from this world have been released.
True, Kennedy's department was heavily criticized by fans for questionable creative decisions in those same sequels - especially "The Last Jedi" and "The Rise of Skywalker."
In addition, many criticized the overall development of the franchise. Fans of the series have long suggested replacing Kennedy with The Mandalorian writers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. True, after the release of the third season of The Mandalorian, such proposals also died down.
During Kennedy's tenure at Star Wars, numerous projects were announced that never saw the light of day, including the Game of Thrones trilogy and Episode 8 director Ryan Johnson.
The new film about Rey (Daisy Ridley), which takes place after the ninth episode, is also “stuck in limbo.”
Kennedy also got a lot of trouble for the fifth part of Indiana Jones, which failed at the box office and received a huge amount of negativity from Indy fans. Later, many noted that the real continuation of the archaeologist’s adventures was not the film, but Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
At the same time, Kennedy herself began working in the industry a very long time ago; she initially collaborated with Steven Spielberg on the first part of the same “Jones.”

George Nolfi, who was recently named the new screenwriter for Star Wars: The New Jedi Order's Rey Skywalker, spoke with Film Stories about his approach to filming. He raised the idea of potentially delving into the politics of a galaxy far, far away, as George Lucas did before him:
“If you think about George Lucas and the six films he made and the universe he created, it’s actually very much tied to broader political ideas,” the screenwriter said. “It’s not about the present day per se, but about imperial n*cism and the Roman Empire.”
“The democracy of the Roman Empire falling into decline and becoming an empire, and the eternal story of how people organize against chaos, and then the tools that help human societies contain chaos become tools of oppression.”
“So that's really important to what I think George Lucas was trying to say,” Nofly continued.
“And one of the great things about science fiction and Star Wars—it's almost like science fiction or space opera—is that you can raise the deepest questions without feeling like you're in a philosophy class or a political science class or reading today's newspaper.”
This says a lot about the writer's vision and gives an idea of what The New Jedi Order could be and what topics it will touch on.
Otherwise, the plot of the film will revolve around Rey, who is now a Jedi Master and seeks to create a new Jedi Order, trying to resist the dark forces that want to stop her. The film is expected to serve as an epilogue to the controversial sequel trilogy, which may go some way to making up for the questionable creative decisions made in those films.
