After launching an intensive marketing campaign for the first Star Wars film in six years, the long-term box office forecast for The Mandalorian and Grogu has improved to between $90 million and $100 million.

This figure could still improve, especially given the start today of the world tour of the series “The Mandalorian” and Grogu, which will cover Mexico City, Berlin, London, Paris, Madrid, New York, Tokyo and Los Angeles in anticipation of the films’ theatrical release.

If the forecast remains the same, it will be the lowest opening for a Star Wars film since 2018's Solo: A Star Wars Story, which grossed just $84.4 million in its opening weekend (adjusted for inflation, that's equivalent to $111 million today).

Star Wars-themed fast food promotions are usually a little chaotic by design, but Burger King's new promotion tied to the Mandalorian series and the Grogu movie sounds like the company knows exactly what kind of chaos it wants. Burger King has officially announced the launch of a limited-time menu on May 4th at participating U.S. restaurants in honor of the upcoming film, which will be released in theaters on May 22, 2026.

And yes, menu names play a very important role.

Of all the names you might expect to see in a Star Wars movie, Martin Scorsese's name probably wasn't high on that list.

But according to SFX Magazine, citing comments from director Jon Favreau, the legendary filmmaker will actually make a cameo appearance in The Mandalorian and Grogu, voicing the alien shopkeeper seen in the film's trailer. And honestly, that's already one of the weirdest and best little details about this movie.

The upcoming film “The Mandalorian & Grogu” has become the shortest live action film compared to other films in the universe Star Wars, which were released after the acquisition of Lucasfilm by Disney in 2012.

The running time of the film about the new adventures of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu is 2 hours 12 minutes. This is three minutes less than “The Force Awakens” (Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens), released in 2015.

Little is known about the plot of the new sci-fi film. However, judging by the released trailer, the main characters of The Mandalorian series will be hired by the New Republic for some kind of task.

The new film stars (or voices) Sigourney Weaver (“Avatar”), Jeremy Allen White (“Bear”), Stephen Bloom (“Star Wars Rebels”) and even Martin Scorsese (“Movie Studio”).

The film will be released overseas on May 22, 2026.
