Saber Interactive CFO Tim Willits assured that the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is still in development. The information appeared on the social networks of the head of the company.

In X, Willits reported that Saber has not abandoned any of the announced projects. However, he did not provide any additional information. Separately, the head of the company, Matthew Karsh, in an interview with Game File, said that a remake of KOTOR is in development, but also refused to provide any details.

A remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was announced in September 2021. Initially, it was handled by Aspyr Media studio, specializing in ports for mobile devices. Embracer management, as well as Lucasfilm and Sony Interactive Entertainment, were dissatisfied with the state of the project. In 2022, it was reported that development would take at least another two years, but since then there has been no official information about the game.

Yesterday's announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 has some fans worried about Saber Interactive's other games in development, but according to studio executives, there's nothing to worry about.

Creative director Tim Willits decided to boast about the scope of the studio: “Saber Interactive is one of the largest independent developers in the world. We are working on a variety of games in a variety of genres."

“Everything we have already talked about is still in development. We will share information about upcoming games when we have something cool to talk about,” Willits assured fans.

In total, with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber Interactive has as many as eight major projects in development, and the most questionable of them is the remake of the cult role-playing game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

The re-interpretation of the role-playing classic from the BioWare studio was announced back in 2021. Since then, the project has changed developers and has been dubbed by insiders as “dead as hell,” but as of last spring it was still in production.

In addition to Space Marine 3 and the KoTOR remake, the studio is making a new Painkiller, shooter Turok: Origins, action

" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jurassic Park: Survival, action movie John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, AAA games based on “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and one of the Hasbro franchises.

Development of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 has already begun, but release is still a long way off. They promise to take the genre to a new level and even more spectacular battles than in last year's Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.

Despite plans, the game was never released on PC.

  • NaturalMotion studio announced that it will close the PvP action game Star Wars: Hunters. According to the developers, they made this decision after “careful consideration.”
  • The authors of the game will extend the fifth season of support until April 15, after which the last content update will be released, within which the support hunter Tuya from the Twi'lek race will be added to the roster. The in-game store will also be deactivated on this day.
  • Star Wars: Hunters servers will be shut down on October 1, after which the action will no longer be available. The NaturalMotion staff thanked the community for its support since its release in June 2024.
  • The game was released only on Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms running iOS and Android. The title's average rating on OpenCritic was 60 points out of 100 with 40% recommendations.
  • The developers planned to release Star Wars: Hunters on PC in January, but this did not happen. The creators of the action game needed more time to improve the port, but, apparently, we can no longer wait for it.

The latest information about the film "The Mandalorian and Grogu" has opened up new possibilities for new LEGO Star Wars sets.

Among the Disney theme parks news at SXSW this weekend, the Star Wars-centric update on the Disney Parks Blog contains a small but a remarkable opening for The Mandalorian and Grogu. With the film's release almost a year away, it was announced that BDX droids (inspired by the BD series of droids featured in The Mandalorian and the Star Wars Jedi games) will appear in the film after being tested in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

New details have emerged about the canceled Star Wars: Underworld series from George Lucas

Thanks to producer Rick McCallum, previously undisclosed details have emerged about the canceled Star Wars: Underworld series, which was the brainchild of franchise creator George Lucas.

  • The scripts for 60 episodes were almost completed, and the idea was to film 100 episodes.
  • Budget - $40 million per episode, i.e. total investment - $4 billion
  • The soundtrack was supposed to be composed by John Williams.
  • The project was closed precisely because of the high cost.

“The episodes were dark, sensual, violent... they were literally great. Magnificent, complex... challenging. I mean, it would have blown up the entire Star Wars universe... And Disney would definitely never have offered to buy it. And this is one of the biggest disappointments in our lives,” he said in an interview with The Young Indy Chronicles podcast.

An interesting detail is that Star Wars: Underworld somehow echoes Star Wars 1313. The game, which was developed by LucasArts, was supposed to explore similar themes. In it, Boba Fett traveled through the criminal depths of Level 1313 on Coruscant. Unfortunately, Star Wars 1313 has also been cancelled.

Enthusiasts from the modding community continue to actively work on turning the Starfield game into a full-fledged Star Wars project. One of the key areas of this effort is a mod called Star Wars: Genesis, which has recently undergone significant expansion.

Recall that Starfield, being a new large-scale role-playing game from Bethesda, has not been able to fully win the recognition of fans since its release in 2022. Many players believe that its gaming potential is much more realized as the basis for creating a Star Wars project.
