Apr 04, 2026

This year,Star Warsis not only returning to theaters, but it's also getting a couple of big video games. Fans might have forgotten about one of them.

Last year, the turn-based tactical strategyStar Wars Zero Companywas announced. Nothing has been heard about the project for a long time, and now fresh details have appeared.

In previewPC Gamer's editors suggest that a game from former developers of XCOM could be the biggest surprise of 2026. The project has been compared toMass Effect, but it has deep gameplay and permanent death.

Star Wars Zero Company Features

The game feels similar to XCOM. This includes the camera, cinematic finishing moves and movement.

Moving requires one action point depending on the distance. Some abilities will require more than one point.

The entire squad of four characters has a common pool of “advantage” points. They are earned by attacking enemies.

There will be classic side missions: separate zones with tasks such as destroying enemies, rescuing hostages or holding a location. All side missions were handcrafted, and only some enemies were procedurally generated.

Story missions are much more complex and include several separate combat encounters. They are connected by exploring locations from a third person perspective.

In addition to well-developed main characters, you can hire and customize mercenaries. This allows you to form a full-fledged squad and take a fresh look at history.

Classical classes await you at the Logovo base. You can communicate with comrades, purchase new equipment, upgrade your heroes, improve equipment, and so on.

In Zero Company there is irreversible death, which has become the hallmark of the games in the XCOM series.Everyone may die during the mission, but the story will continue without them.

The release is expected before the end of this year on consoles and PC.
