Lucasfilm and Epic Games have teamed up to bring Star Wars elements to the Fortnite Unreal Editor (UEFN). It's much more than just a season of Star Wars or some cool characters to play with - this update will allow gamers to create any Star Wars experience they can imagine.

The trailer for the new Star Wars tools (which you can watch below) shows examples of some of the games you can create and play, including a Mario Party-style multiplayer game, a Battlefield-inspired shooter on Hoth, a side-scroller with Luke Skywalker, a Pokemon-type game with droids, a massive air battles and much more.

The update will allow players to use many new Force abilities, improved Mandalorian jetpacks, and a Star Wars-themed interface and fonts.

One of the interesting and as-yet-unexplored areas of potential for this update is a mechanic that allows players to communicate with NPCs, similar to role-playing games like Skyrim. This means that in theory, with this new update, fans will be able to create a game similar to Mass Effect .

Epic Games will soon add support for first-person shooters, allowing creators to develop Call of Duty-style games in a galaxy far, far away.

Fans can start creating their own
Star Wars games/islands today, but they won't be able to publish anything publicly until May 1st (just in time for Star Wars Day, which is May 4th).
