After 13 years, modders have revived the canceled multiplayer shooter Star Wars: First Assault, which was supposed to pave the way for Battlefront 3
Mar 20, 2026Canceled in 2013 along with the infamous Star Wars 1313, the multiplayer first-person shooter Star Wars: First Assault from LucasArts received a new life 13 years later thanks to fans.

Star Wars: First Assault was supposed to be beta tested on Xbox Live at the end of 2012, but due to the buyout of Lucasfilm by Disney (and the subsequent dissolution of LucasArts), the tests never took place.
After 13 years, a group of Star Wars: Battlefront modders have restored the previously leaked beta version of Star Wars: First Assault and organized the failed testing (see the hour and a half gameplay video from iamashaymin below).
You can get acquainted with the beta version of Star Wars: First Assault, restored by modders, through the official server of the project. How long Disney will allow the initiative to exist is unclear.
On the Star Wars: First Assault gameplay videos circulating on the Internet, the assembly looks relatively polished, which is not surprising - on the eve of cancellation, the game was almost ready (there was not enough $10 thousand for certification).

The events of Star Wars: First Assault were supposed to unfold in the surroundings of the classic Star Wars trilogy: stormtroopers, rebels, team deathmatch, maps on Tatooine and Bespin.
Star Wars: First Assault was positioned as a platform for the revival of Star Wars: Battlefront. The release was planned for the summer of 2013. The second game was supposed to be released in 2014, and a full-fledged Battlefront 3 in 2015. But it didn’t work out.
