Star Wars Jedi 3 release date divides fans

Some players believe that the third game in the Star Wars Jedi trilogy could be released in the near future, while others question it.

In a recent episode of the Kinda Funny Gamescast podcast, host Tim Gettys hinted that he had "heard some things" about the Respawn Entertainment project. It is expected that the release will take place before the end of 2026:

I think the sequel to Jedi Survivor has a good chance of coming out this year. I don't think it's guaranteed, but I'm just wondering where the announcement will take place.

Gettys later clarified that he was not sure about the release this year. He noted that he did not directly say this.

Could Star Wars Jedi 3 be released in 2026?

It is not entirely clear where the rumors about an imminent release came from. Many simply refer to the chronology of releases: the second part was released approximately three and a half years afterFallen Order. The end of 2026 is approximately three and a half years from the release of Survivor.

Of course, none of this has been confirmed by Respawn or EA, but there is precedent. It's not uncommon for game series to distribute releases evenly, especially in trilogies. The development of each subsequent game is usually based on ready-made technologies, which speeds up the process.

However, there are rumors thatStar Wars Jedi 3is much larger in scale, potentially increasing production time. According to rumors, the threequel will feature non-linear gameplay - that is, an open world or something similar.

Additionally, some have speculated that the departure of Stig Asmussen, the game designer for previous games, in 2023 could affect the timing. However, Asmussen left the company in the very early stages of development of the third part. It is unlikely that this could cause problems.

Not all Star Wars fans are confident in the imminent release

In a post on Reddit, dedicated to rumors, gamers were divided on the possibility of the release of Jedi 3this year.Many believe that the announcement could happen soon, but the release will take place in 2027.

Some fans have noted that the project is unlikely to be released in the fall due toGrand Theft Auto VIin November. A release earlier is simply unlikely. After the glitchy mess that was Survivor, I promised myself that I wouldn't touch any of the Jedis in the first year after release, and I stand by my opinion.

It's possible that Jedi 3 will be announced during Star Wars Celebration. The event will take place in early April. Other games in the franchise may also be shown there.
