'Star Wars' to Bring Back 'Legends' Character Associated with Luke Skywalker
Feb 12, 2026In 2026, a new project will be releasedStar Warsabout Luke Skywalker, which is dedicated to the Legends character. Familiar characters are gradually returning to the canon after Disney acquired Lucasfilm.
The graphic novelTales from the Outer Rim: The Legend of Beggar's Canyonfeatures canon characters such as Luke Skywalker and Biggs Darklighter. Also featured will be popular Legends character Jenek Sunber, also known as Tank.

Tales from the Outer Rim: The Legend of Beggar's Canyon will tell about Luke in his youth, before the events of A New Hope. The story will bring to life a line from the original film in which Luke talks about Beggar's Canyon and his T-16 speeder. The synopsis of the comic is presented below:
Like most kids his age, Luke Skywalker longs for adventure, but growing up on the remote desert planet of Tatooine, he feels a little stuck. And with Luke's best friend, Biggs Darklighter, already dreaming of attending the Imperial Academy, Luke feels like he's drowning in a Sarlacc pit! So he decides it's time to go on his own unforgettable adventure and dare to conquer the legendary Beggar's Canyon!

The blurb also hints that the group may encounter "terrible spirits" living in Beggar's Canyon or "fierce beasts."
The History of the Tank in Star Wars Legends

Tank was Luke Skywalker's childhood friend. His name was mentioned inA New Hopein the scene where Luke was talking to Uncle Owen about joining the Imperial Academy, but that was the only mention of him in canon.
Dzhenek initially applied to train as a pilot, but his results were not good enough. He eventually agreed to serve in the Imperial Army.
Long story short, Tank was angry when he learned that Luke and Biggs had joined the Rebel Alliance. After speaking with Darth Vader about Luke, Tank was tasked with finding the Jedi. To deceive Luke, Sunber sent him a message saying that he wanted to leave the Empire, after which he betrayed him.
A battle ensued between them, and Tank actually had the advantage, but was unable to defeat Luke. At the same time, Vader's fleet began to attack the rebels, and the ship containing Tank and Luke was damaged.
It is unclear whether Tank's story in canon will follow his storyline from Legends. We're unlikely to see him join the ranks of the Empire in the graphic novel. Perhaps Tank will talk about joining the Imperial Academy, but his service is likely saved for a future project.
