In addition to Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic and its ambitions in the spirit of Knights of the Old Republic, another game captivated gamers at the Game Awards 2025 - Star Wars: Galactic Racer. While there have been many games in the series, from action-adventures to open-world games, none compare to 1999'sStar Wars Episode 1: Racer.

For those who were worried that Galactic Racer wouldn't feature one of the most iconic activities from the prequel trilogy, don't worry—Fuse Games CEO and co-founder Matt Webster told GamesRadar+ that pod racing has been confirmed.

You can't create a Star Wars racing game without pod racing, right? The main idea of the game is to become an elite racer in the Galactic League, and podracing is the pinnacle of speed and racing in the Star Wars galaxy.

When we started creating Galactic Racer, we wanted to do more - use different types of vehicles and different ways to achieve speed to provide players with a wide range of experiences. Galactic Racer offers players the opportunity to control vehicles they know and love, as well as ones they've never encountered before, in a variety of single-player and multiplayer game modes.

Among them are the landspeeder (which Luke Skywalker rode on Tatooine in A New Hope) and the speederbike (made famous by the chase on Endor in Return of the Jedi). However, other notable repulsor-powered vehicles were spotted in the trailer, suggesting thatFuse Gameshas some secrets. Regardless of the vehicle you choose, you will have several viewing options.

We're putting a lot of effort into this camera because it's a big part of how the game feels," Webster says of the third-person perspective.Other camera angles will allow players to "get closer to the car" to "create a sense of speed and, of course, the situational awareness needed in close quarters racing." However, don't worry about the first person perspective either.

Star Wars: Galactic Racerwill be released later this year for theXbox Series X/S,PS5andPC. The plot centers on Shade, who joins the Galactic League in the Outer Rim to "revenge and gain glory." You will be able to customize different types of repulsor ships and participate inPvPmatches, as well as in story mode.
