Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord Teaser

Star Wars: Maul - Lord of Shadows is an upcoming animated series set during the Age of the Empire. It will follow Darth Maul as he rebuilds his criminal empire. The series was announced at Star Wars Celebration Japan during a panel discussion celebrating Lucasfilm Animation's 20th anniversary. According to Maul voice actor Sam Witwer, the series is set one year after the Clone Wars.
The first reports of an animated series dedicated to Maul appeared at the end of 2021. The series is produced by Athena Yvette Portillo, written by Matt Michnovec, and stars Sam Witwer. According to Witwer, he was first cast on the series by Dave Filoni about a year before the announcement. The trailer shown to panelists made it clear that the series, while it will broadly follow the animation style pioneered in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, will have its own twists.
The exclusive trailer revealed that the series will see Maul battle the underworld to regain his power, confront Inquisitor First Brother and Jedi Vurk, and take on a new Twi'lek apprentice who he believes will help him in his quest for revenge after receiving a vision of the Force. The trailer also showed a small squad still serving Maul, including the Mandalorian Ruk Kast. Footage of Maul from Lord of Shadows was publicly shown in a video filmed to celebrate Lucasfilm Animation's twentieth anniversary.
