Kathleen Kennedy officially resigns
Jan 16, 2026This week, Kathleen Kennedy officially steps down as president of Lucasfilm. Dave Filoni will oversee the creative direction of Lucasfilm as President and Chief Creative Officer. Lynwen Brennan will handle the business side of things as co-president of Lucasfilm.
Kathleen Kennedy talks about plans for future Star Wars films:
- James Mangold's film is on hold, but it has an incredible script.
- Donald Glover submitted a script for a film about Lando.
- Simon Kinberg is actively working on a trilogy of films, and Dave and Linwen are very supportive of the idea.
- Taika Waititi has submitted the script for the film, which she calls "hilariously funny and brilliant."
- Confirms that the script for The Hunt for Ben Solo has also been shelved indefinitely.
Kathleen Kennedy's departure from Lucasfilm is a reminder that she has made some amazing films over the years.
