Lucasfilm has announced the return ofStar Wars: A New Hopeto theaters.

Most modern Star Wars fans don’t know a world without these beloved stories. But 50 years ago, in 1975,Star Warswas still a relatively low-budget space fantasy in pre-production. 31-year-old director George Lucas was respected for his previous film, American Graffiti, but most in Hollywood were skeptical about his new project. In 1977, of course, everything changed. As we approach our 50th anniversary in 2027, we'll mark the occasion with a worldwide celebration of the golden anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope . The upcoming theatrical re-release ofthe film will give us all the opportunity to visit our local theater and imagine what it was like back in '77 when the projector came to life. One thing we know for sure: cinema has never been the same again, and neither will we.—Lucas Systrom
