'Ahsoka 2' will break a long-standing 'Star Wars' rule - timeline details

Dec 30, 2025

Ahsoka Season 2 will break a long-standing Star Wars rule that has never been broken in the franchise's 49-year history. The exit is taking longer than many had hoped.

The first season was released in 2023, and many believed that the second season would release sometime in 2026. However, oddly enough, the upcoming season was not included in Disney's 2026 plans, so nothing is certain.

According to Star Wars Insider, the second season ofAhsokawill take place primarily in two different locations: Peridea, where Ahsoka, Sabine, Baylan Skoll, and Shin Hachi are still located, and in the main galaxy, where Thrawn and Ezra returned at the end of the first season. Events “will begin shortly after the end of the first season”:

Ahsoka's second season wrapped filming in early October, which means we're getting closer to finding out where the epic story takes us in season two. The series begins shortly after the end of the first season, with Ahsoka, Sabine, Huyan, Shin and Baylan stranded on Peridea while Thrawn and Ezra return to the known galaxy.

What makes the second season of Ahsoka unique

It is noteworthy that not a single “sequel” of Star Wars’ in the live-action film format has ever taken place directly after the events of its predecessor. Some projects are quite close to this, but Star Wars Insider suggests that the second season of Ahsoka will begin literally immediately after the first season. This could be hours later or perhaps even the same night that Anakin's ghost appeared in the Force.

The Empire Strikes Backdid not take place directly afterA New Hope. It has long been established that episode five takes place approximately three years afterA New Hope.WithReturn of the Jediit’s the same story.

It is worth noting that many animation projects develop very closely. For example, some seasons ofThe Clone Warsare close to each other. However, the case ofAhsokaapplies only to live-action films.

The show's second season is expected to premiere in November 2026, but plans may have changed.
