“I’m not getting any younger!”: Casey Hudson denied rumors that Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic will not be released until 2030

Dec 23, 2025

Co-founder of the Canadian Arcanaut Studios Casey Hudson commented on the release timing of the recently announced story-driven role-playing action game Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic on his microblog.

Recall that Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic (FotOR) was presented as part of The Game Awards 2025 ceremony. The announcement was accompanied by a non-gameplay trailer and a message that the game is in an early stage of development.

Against the background of the presentation, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier expressed the idea that, given the production status, FotOR will have to wait until 2030 at best, and allowed the project to be released on the yet unannounced PS7.

Before fans had time to get upset, Hudson came out with a refutation of Schreier's words: "Don't worry about the rumors [about the release] not earlier than 2030 year. The game will be released before then. I’m not getting any younger!”

Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic takes place during the twilight of the Old Republic, when the galaxy is on the brink of rebirth and where every decision shapes the player's path to light or darkness.

Users will take on the role of a Force-sensitive heroine who can wield a lightsaber. They promise innovative storytelling, memorable characters and adrenaline-pumping combat.

Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is positioned as the spiritual successor to the cult role-playing game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic from BioWare, the development of which was once headed by Hudson. The release is expected on PC and consoles.
