5 Ways the Sith Could Return to Star Wars
Dec 13, 2025Although by the end ofStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. RisingThe Sith have seemingly been defeated, they may be returning to the franchise. Whether their return is in the distant past or in the sequel, the Dark Side of the Force is necessary for balance.

Existing for thousands of years, the Dark Lords of the Sith and their ideals have always been as strong as the Jedi Order. With that in mind, here are five ways Lucasfilm could bring them back toStar Wars.
Spin-off about Darth Plagueis from “Acolyte”

Even though this idea has become more complicated due to the cancellation of the Acolyte series, it is still possible that one day we will see another Rise of the Republic project, dedicated to Darth Plagueis, the teacher of Darth Sidious before the prequels.
Through the story of Plagueis, the formation of the Rule of Two can be shown. This took place during a period when the Jedi considered the Sith almost extinct.
Be it a spin-off, live-action or animated series, book or comic, it would be interesting to see Darth Plagueis return the Sith to greatness. It would also be interesting to know about Plagueis's relationship with his student.
The Old Republic and the Sith Empire

For years, Star Wars fans have been hoping for an exploration of the Old Republic era. This dynamic period is thousands of years before the prequels, when the Sith Empire was huge and there were as many Sith warriors as there were Jedi.
The Sith Empire existed before Darth Bane's Rule of Two, which ensured the survival of the Sith after they nearly died due to internal strife and endless power struggles. This is a story that is worthy of a movie.
Rise of the Jedi

Director James Mangold is already working on a film about the origins of the Jedi. The picture should show the Order 25,000 years before the events of the prequels.
Many fans are also expecting to see Professor Huyang's droid, given that he was created by the First Jedi. There is a possibility that the film will also touch on the early roots of the Sith.
It is canonically known that adherents of the Dark Side formed much later in the history ofStar Warsthan the Jedi. They separated from them during an event known as the Hundred Year Darkness. Perhaps we'll see this inRise of the Jedi. However, the project's release is now in doubt due to Mangold's deal with Paramount Pictures.
Relics of the Dark Side

At any point in theStar Warschronology, the Sith can be brought back using their relics. Holocrons filled with teachings can be found by almost any character. In addition, there are items related to the Sith.
A prime example is the ancient heretic Darth Momin, whose spirit remained in the mask, allowing it to possess and subjugate anyone who wore it. Likewise, the spirit of Darth Bane himself remained attached to his tomb on Moraband.
The New Sith Order in Star Wars: Starfighter

Currently, we know of two films set after the events ofThe Rise of Skywalker. Sunrise. The first is dedicated to Rey, and the second to the hero Ryan Gosling. It is assumed that these are in fact the same project.
Starfightermay lay the foundation for a new Jedi Order. In addition, the painting could also bring back the Sith, who are reviving their Order. Despite the victory over Palpatine, the balance of the Forces should be restored.
