The ending of Star Wars: Starfighter was rewritten at the last minute
Dec 02, 2025The film Star Wars: Starfighter (Star Wars: Starfighter) from Disney and Lucasfilm has undergone a third act rewrite. But this only made the blockbuster better.
Director Shawn Levy recently spoke with On Film... With Kevin McCarthy about the fifth season of Stranger Things, but ended up revealing some interesting news about a film about a galaxy far, far away. He said that initially there was a “completely different idea” for the finale ofStarfighter.
We had a completely different idea for something in the third act, and then it all went wrong and I had to come up with a new one. And I'm literally filming this part of the film right now.
It's unclear exactly when Levi had to make changes to the ending, but he's happy with the result. According to him, the new direction is “much better.”
The Jedi cameo could have been cut out in the rewritten script

Levy's comment that "everything went wrong" may indicate problems behind the scenes. This may be due to other projects that Lucasfilm is working on.
Interestingly, some fans believe that Daisy Ridley's Rey should appear in the film. It is to her that Ryan Gosling's hero is trying to deliver his Force-sensitive nephew. That is, the film may show a new Jedi Academy.
This is fueled by rumors that there will be a “big cameo” in the third act of Starfighter, which could lay the groundwork for a new trilogy. Perhaps they decided to abandon Rey.
The film will premiere on May 27, 2027
