The second season of the animated series "Star Wars: Visions" from Disney is at the center of a scandal for plagiarism of fan work
Nov 25, 2025The second season of the animated series "Star Wars: Visions" is at the center of a scandal after allegations of plagiarism of fight choreography from a popular fan film. We are talking about the 7th episode of "The Bandits of Golak", which, according to fans and original content creators, copied the movements and even camera angles from the independent short film.
The topic has a vibe, so within 24 hours it has reached the maximum level of shaking in the subreddit on the Star Wars subreddit.
It all started with a post by choreographer Lorenz Hideyoshi, who previously worked on the fan film Dark Jedi in 2019. He pointed out that key moments and fight sequences in the episode were reproduced almost frame by frame.
But as the discussion progressed, everything turned out to be more prosaic and funnier.
Seven Japanese animation studios worked on the first season and the season was more in the style of traditional Japanese anime.
The second season expanded the geography and this time 9 studios from 9 different countries took on the short films with their characteristic flavor and approach to work.

All questions are unnecessary. As a result, the Indian visual effects and animation studio 88 Pictures is responsible for the series. It has existed since 2016 and has helped with a lot of average animation projects, such as: “Transformers: Spark of the Earth”, “Troll Hunters”, “Kung Fu Panda: Dragon Knight”, etc.
Could Disney check all possible references and notice the places from which the moments were pulled? - the question is open.In fact, they should, this is their job, but in practice it is stated in the contract that the studio undertakes to provide material based on unique content without plagiarism with possible fines for violations. But, as part of the second season of Visions, which was released in 2023, i.e. has already existed for 2 years and has not been caught in the theft of intellectual property, everything went smoothly and it has already brought its benefits.
At this time, Lucasfilm and the studio producing the episode have not publicly commented on the plagiarism allegations.
The alleged author of the original choreography, Lorenz Hideyoshi, has also made no official statement about filing a lawsuit or claims, but his supporters are actively spreading information about the incident on the Internet.
The situation remains uncertain, and many are waiting for an official response.
