Star Wars: Starfighter is halfway through filming

Nov 11, 2025

Filming of the film Star Wars: Starfighter (Star Wars: Starfighter) has been ongoing for more than two months. Director Shawn Levy said production is half completed.

In an interview with Deadline at the world premiere of the Stranger Things finale, he said that filming of the upcoming blockbuster is going smoothly. Ryan Gosling, who plays the lead role, received special praise.

Star Wars is doing very, very well. We've shot a little over half of it and every day I bring my ten-year-old self to the set. I knew it would be a dream come true, but when you find yourself on these sets, surrounded by droids, aliens, among large-scale sets and costumes, every day becomes joyful. It's damn hard, and Ryan Gosling is a true genius and a great partner. Everything is going great!”

What does this mean for the film?

Starfighter could come at the perfect time for both Lucasfilm and Disney. The situation in cinemas can hardly be called stable, andStar Warswas completely absent from the big screens for almost six years.

It’s interesting that filming could end as early as December. Matt Smith previously said that he would be filming his scenes for several weeks, meaning he would join towards the end of production. He plays the villain.

The team will have a year and a half for post-production and additional filming, if necessary. After recent failures, studios have begun to allocate more time to blockbusters.

Star Wars: Starfighterwill be released on May 27, 2027. According to rumors, a new Jedi will appear in the film.
