They decided to remake the forgotten Star Wars film into a TV series - insider
Nov 08, 2025One of the previously announced films, Star Wars, may be turned into a series for Disney+. However, it is officially unclear about the future of the franchise on streaming services.
Insider MyTimeToShineHello on social networks X shared information about Patty Jenkins' project "Rogue" squadron. According to her, development has resumed, but now it will not be a film, but a series. No additional information.
The film was announced back in 2020, and since then it has undergone many difficulties. Patty Jenkins planned to begin filming in 2021, but the project was delayed. The director planned to do Wonder Woman 3instead, but the comic book movie was canceled due to the reboot of the DC cinematic universe.
Perhaps Lucasfilm decided to return to the idea, reworking it for streaming.
Why Rogue Squadron makes sense as a series

We know of series from the franchise that will be released in 2026 on Disney+, but the future is relatively unclear. Perhaps the company decided to fill out the release schedule in this way.
Plus, a down-to-earth story like this might work better in a show format. This confirms the success of Andor.
There used to be a series about the Rangers of the New Republic in development, but it was abandoned due to the firing of Gina Carrano. It was very much a Cara Dune story.
Rogue Squadron could have conveyed some of the ideas that Disney and Lucasfilm were trying to implement in the canceled project. In addition, the show will allow you to immerse yourself in the life of characters who do not possess the Force.
