Darth Maul's new design revealed ahead of new Star Wars series release
Nov 03, 2025Ahead of the release of the new Star Wars series - Maul: Lord of Shadows - Lucasfilm could reveal a new lightsaber design and costume for the character.

Although the release date has not yet been revealed, fresh details are expected soon. This is indicated by the new figure of Darth Maul, which was presented by the site Flickeringmyth.
The figure is probably dedicated to Maul: Lord of Shadows. The character looks virtually the same as he did in his last appearance in theStar Wars: The Clone Warstimeline. In season seven, Maul appeared in battle with Ahsoka Tano on Mandalore, wearing a simple black tunic and wielding the iconic double-bladed lightsaber. The events ofMola: Lord of Shadowstake place afterThe Clone Wars.

The only major potential design difference betweenMola: Lord of ShadowsandStar Wars: The Clone Warsis the lightsaber. Some images show him in his classic dual-blade form, while in others Maul can now split into two lightsabers.

Will we see a new look for Darth Maul?

The design raises the question of whether Maul will change as the series progresses. It's safe to say that in all of the character's appearances in Star Wars, his appearance has never gone beyond basic clothing with minor changes.
It looks likeMaul: Lord of Shadowswill continue this trend. However, if any project could make a difference, this is it. Most of the character's other appearances were minor. Finally,Star Warsputs him in the spotlight.
The premiere of the animated series is scheduled for 2026.
