Box office for The Mandalorian and Grogu hit a record low in week 2

[Friday, June 5, 2026]

The long-awaited return ofStar Warsto cinemas may not have been so long-awaited. The Mandalorian & Grogu (The Mandalorian & Grogu) is losing ground at the box office in its second week.

On Friday, the film grossed only $6 million in the United States, losing the lead at the box office to the horror film Behind the Scenes of Reality. The latter earned $35 million, including $10 million Thursday night. As a result of the UK-end, the box office amounted to $81.4 million, according to Deadline. A horror film with a budget of $10 million outsold a blockbuster for $165 million.

It is interesting that earlier in the American box office, The Mandalorian and Grogu was surpassed by another horror film - Obsession. The $750,000 horror film overtook the action movie on Wednesday, and at the end of the weekend it was able to take second place in the box office.

The Mandalorian and Grogu have a low record

The film about The Mandalorian managed to set another anti-record. Previously, the film showed the worst start for Star Wars, and now showed a record drop in box office receipts.

The Mandalorian and Groguhad a 69% drop in the second week at the domestic box office - $25 million. Previously, Han Solo was the leader in the collapse - a drop of 65% in the second weekend.

Given the current pace of box office and upcoming releases, it will be difficult to reach $200 million at the domestic box office. This will also be an anti-record. The film currently has $137.3 million in the US. Worldwide, the film has earned more than $246 million.

According to media reports, the real test forStar Warswill be next year'sStarfighter. Toys with The Mandalorian and Grogu will supposedly help recoup the costs of their film, but Shawn Levy’s project will no longer sell merch, so the box office will be important.
