IGN has updated the ranking of Star Wars films after the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film received 62% from critics and 88% from viewers, and judging by the top, the portal’s editors share the position of professional reviewers.

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back took first place. The authors call the film a benchmark for the franchise and one of the reasons for its longevity. This film expands the universe, introducing new worlds and characters, but the emphasis is shifted from large-scale confrontation to personal conflicts: the heroes' willingness to make sacrifices for the sake of a common cause and the need to make decisions for which they are not always ready.

In second place is Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, which started it all. The film combines science fiction, fantasy, elements of Western and samurai cinema, as well as innovative visual effects that laid the foundation for modern blockbusters, the material notes.

Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi rounds out the top three. Here one of the key confrontations of the saga reaches its climax, and in the finale the audience is forced to say goodbye to some iconic characters.

The film “The Mandalorian and Grogu” took only tenth place. He broke the almost seven-year pause in the release of full-length films, but did not live up to expectations. According to the publication, the film follows the usual formula too strictly, so it lacks surprise and depth. “The end result is perhaps the most meaningless film in the Star Wars universe.”This is clearly not the way,” the authors concluded.
